Layered headband #8
This reversible headband is generously sized at 4.5" wide. It will keep your ears cozy without flattening out your gorgeous hair, or overheating the top of your head. Fun fact: the geometrical shape is a flattened torus — a seamlessly connected tubular tube. (It takes a lot of time to hand stitch the seamless graft!)
The spring inspired greens are resist dyed in the yarn with dyes made from locally foraged bracken fern and goldenrod, and garden grown rhubarb leaf. Reverses to maroon and pink stripes, dyed with red-gilled cort mushroom over light and grey yarns, with a natural dark grey fiber border.
Exterior and interior fiber is 50% superfine local Romeldale wool / 50% local fine grade alpaca.
Unisex size stretches to fit most heads.
USPS Priority Shipping within the US is included in price.
Care Instructions
Your new knit requires very little care except to be worn and loved. The most important thing is not to put it in the washing machine! If your knit gets dirty or stretched, handwashing will restore it. To wash, fill a basin with warm water and add about a teaspoon of gentle dishwashing liquid, castile soap, or a fiber wash product such as Unicorn Wash or Eucalan. Don’t use Woolite. Put your knit piece in the basin and let it soak for 30 minutes without agitating it. Remove and refill the basin with fresh water. Put the knit back in the basin and let soak for another 10 minutes. Do 2 more rinses in fresh water. Gently squeeze dry and/or roll in a towel and dry flat.
You can store your knit in the cloth bag it came in. If wool moths are a problem in your house, consider storing in a cedar chest.
May your head and heart be warm!
