We Save the Earth Print
In collaboration with A Revolutionary Press in New Haven, Vermont
All proceeds will be passed on to the Press to be donated to front line social and environmental justice organizations.
This letterpress print features a vintage advertising plate from an early 20th century newspaper. "We Sell the Earth" was the cry of progress.
On the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic and climate crisis, what is our rallying cry? "Will Green be the Color of Money or of Life?" Activist, ecologist, farmer and compassionate being, Vandana Shiva points us in a wise direction for shifting paradigms at this inflection point. The entire quoted passage is printed on the back side.
Printed on heavy weight handmade paper from the women at Naya papermakers in Mumbai, India. A Revolutionary Press originally donated funds to Peace Paper to supply equipment to Naya, who in turn provided this paper back to the press.
Dimensions: 12" x 8.25"
Two different tones of green available
to print radical and revolutionary ideals and to donate all income to other non profits doing the
real work for non violence and social justice. We print the old fashioned way, one l-e-t-t-e-r at a
time with hand set metal and wood typefaces and antique hand and foot powered printing presses.
Using historical and contemporary thoughts, quotes, essays and poems as text and integrating color
and image, we attempt to present work which can be viewed not only artistically but also
intellectually, and which suggests to the viewer as well as the artists, that we constantly reconsider
what each of us believes to be the Truth. In doing so, we hope that the seemingly lost art of
reasoned and rational discourse will be rediscovered, thus allowing for more humane interactions.
In other words, “Let's all stop shouting (and shooting) at one another”.
