Zero Waste #6
A hat of many stripes, knit from ends of yarn remaining from 2017 dye batches. In making these, I like to explore new color combinations that usually don't arise in my more formal work. Reflecting on the process, I find myself considering how diversity and unlikely partnerships, both amongst humans and in the natural world, build the most beautiful and resilient communities.
This hat is dyed with different shades of my studio-grown Japanese indigo, black walnut, and St.-John's-Wort, as well as some bits of undyed yarn. The peaked shape has some space at the very tippy top and plenty of cozy warmth around your ears.
